Nokia XR21 Limited Edition: Made in Europe

Nokia XR21 news update

HMD Global has fulfilled its promise to produce 5G smartphones in Europe with the launch of the Nokia XR21 Limited Edition, the first device to roll off European production lines. HMD Global, known for manufacturing Nokia phones in China, made the significant decision earlier this year to shift the production of 5G smartphones to Europe, marking itself as the first major smartphone manufacturer to do so.

This transition of 5G smartphone production to Europe began gradually in Q3 2023. The decision motivate by increased smartphone demand in Europe and a commitment to reduce carbon emissions while ensuring security and privacy.

European Craftsmanship: Made in Hungary

The Nokia XR21 Limited Edition proudly originates from Hungary. In its initial production run, HMD has ordered only 50 units, with a mere 30 of these devices available for open sale. Each phone will feature a unique engraving and present in a special limited-edition packaging.

Nokia XR21: Rugged Elegance

The Nokia XR21, introduced in May, combines a robust design with military-grade MIL-STD-810H certification and IP69K protection – the highest IP rating against water and dust.

Impressive Specifications

The device features a 6.49-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Powering the Nokia XR21 is the Snapdragon 695 chipset, accompanied by a 64MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide module.

It houses a 4,800mAh battery with 33W fast charging and comes preloaded with Android 12.

Pricing and Availability

The Nokia XR21 Limited Edition is priced at €699, approximately around Rp 11.4 million, and is available in Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Finland, and the UK. Additionally, HMD will introduce the regular Nokia XR21 in Black, priced at €649, which is approximately Rp 9.8 million.

This move by HMD Global signifies a substantial step in localizing smartphone production in Europe while offering consumers high-quality, environmentally friendly devices.
